iHOP - DNA changes involved in the formation of metaphase chromosomes, as observed in mouse duodenal crypt cells stained by osmium-ammine. I. New structures arise during the S phase and condense at prophase into "chromomeres," which fuse at prometaphase into mitotic chromosomes.
